Various Types of Braces Utilized by Orthodontics to Correct Teeth

At present, orthodontics is known to offer a wide variety of braces in comparison to the previous days. Some of the options to be checked out include:

  • Traditional braces – The present traditional braces comprise of metal wires and brackets. However, the present metal braces are smaller and less noticeable and known for comfort. Along with it, the new heat-activated arch wires utilize the heat of body to help the teeth to move in a quicker manner. That too in a less painful manner!
The braces manufactured by using metal are of least expensive type. Also the colored bands provide a chance to the kids to express themselves in a wide and open manner. But they are among the most noticeable type of braces. In other words, they can easily come under notice by naked eyes.

  • Ceramic braces – The present ceramic braces hold the same size and shape similar to that of the metallic braces. The only exceptional in their case is that they hold braces which are clear and are tooth-colored in order to blend into the teeth. Even some use tooth colored wires as they do not want the same to get noticed.
The ceramic braces are less noticeable in comparison to the metal braces. They have also been reported to move the teeth in a much fast manner than the clear plastic aligners. In case proper care is not taken on a regular basis, then they are subjected to get stained. Also, the associated cost is a bit higher.

  • Lingual braces – The lingual braces are same as that of traditional metallic braces with an exception. Here, the brackets and wires are placed at the inside portion of the teeth. The only advantage associated with lingual braces is that they are invisible from outside.
On the other hand, they are difficult to clean and are more expensive. Also, they are not an appropriate for severe cases as they are a bit uncomfortable. They are difficult to wear in comparison to the traditional braces.

  • Invisible Invisalign braces – The Invisible Invisalign braces comprise a series of 18-30 custom made, mouth guard like clear plastic aligners. As they are easily removable they can be easily replaced every two weeks. Patients can easily eat and drink by wearing them.
The Invisible Invisalign braces will not work for serious dental problems. Also, not suitable to small children! The treatment may take long time to cure as they get easily lost. A costly option to replace with a new one!
